Overview
The Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (SAHZU) was founded in 1869 as Guangji Hospital, the birthplace of Western medicine in Zhejiang Province and one of China's earliest Western medical schools. As one of the first Grade 3 Class A hospitals nationwide, SAHZU upholds "Patients and Service Objects First" as its core value, renowned at home and abroad for comprehensive treatment of major diseases and refined medical quality management. The hospital currently operates six campuses (Jiefang Road, Binjiang, Chengdong, Boao, Eye, and Zhejiang University) with over 5,000 authorized beds. It has ranked in the top 10 nationwide in the national tertiary public hospital performance assessment for two consecutive years, and ranked in the Nature Index Global Top 100, 4th in China. It served as the designated medical support unit for the G20 Hangzhou Summit. The hospital leads nationally in transcatheter cardiovascular intervention, complex cataract treatment, multidisciplinary colorectal tumor treatment, degenerative joint disease treatment, refractory neurological genetic diseases, and emergency trauma treatment.
